Scrubbing old paint from the stove fan

Sam was just as eager to help out. He went right to work stripping the old tape glue and paint from the fan cover. We got it all off!

Did I show you the floor

So I forgot to share the floor work that Jake did. As soon as we got it home, Jake went to work on the floors. He had all 3 layers of old linoleum, and tile peeled up in no time. He exposed the great, sturdy 2 layer floors. They were very nicely intact.

Takin' the Home Tour of My Sanctuary

Well Joey had to take the neighbors on a tour of My Sanctuary. Hot as heck out there. We can only work in the early morning! Lookin' forward to cooler weather.

Cowgirl Up!

Here's lil miss Audrey heading out to Girl's Camp for the first time. The theme is Cowgirl Up! "Courage is bein' scared to death, but saddlin' up anyways!" -John Wayne. Here she is ready to saddle up outside "My Sanctuary".

Getting down to the nitty gritty

It looks like this little trailer jack-knifed a few times in the past. There is damage to the front right exterior and water damage to the paneling on the inside front. I am intending to replace the paneling, so I tore into it and was able to bang out the body damage.

Look what we found

So we have been stripping the layers and layers of white, gold, green, and blue paint from the trailer. I'm vascilating back and forth about what I want the final paint work to look like. I am thinking of polishing the aluminum since we found this original logo sticker under all the paint. WOW!!

My Construction Advisor

So it is good to have a sounding board for ideas. It is even better to have someone who will help you carry out these ideas. Ray is ready and willing to help me accomplish whatever needs to happen to keep things moving along.

My Paint Stripping Team

I thought I would be working on this alone. Boy, what enthusiasm family and friends have for this project. Everyone is interested and wants to know what I'm doing. Neighbors stop by to ask questions, grandkids come inside to help plan the interior. And here, you can see my boys are eager to help strip off the old layers and layers of paint, even in the hot, humid 100+ weather.

Tearing out the old car radio

So there are holes everywhere for car speakers, stereo wires and a car radio. So sad to see the destruction of this old woodwork. I guess I will tear out the facia of this cupboard and make an open shelf.

The remodeling process

We have begun to tear out the old and plan the new interior. It continues to evolve in my imagination. Who knows what the final outcome will look like. Here is the kitchen area where we have torn out the old ceramic tile.

I have loved Sisters on the Fly for the last few years. They have sounded like just what I need in this season of my life. Sooooooo, I joined 'em! I officially became Sister #1483 last week. And....I found a great trailer last week. This blog will tell the story of my "Sisters" journey, starting with an introduction to "My Sanctuary". She is a 1959 Talisman 18 foot lovely. Here she is as I found her in Congress, AZ. An added bonus. I was able to meet Duke and Joyce Cooley. Joyce just recently restored a sweet little trailer.

Ever Changing Path

Most of the time, we mortals assume our life is on a predictable and planned path. We want to believe we have control over what our days wil...
